Greenhouse Planting

Summer Moon, Steven, & I were in the greenhouse today.
It's neat to think back to last year, when we weren't nearly as impeccable because the greenhouse wasn't finished until June.

This year, we have already enjoyed a crop of Tot Soi, the spinach is ready, and the peas are climbing their way up the nets we strung up for them today.

The Brassicas are done, and Cody is clearing them from the field. The row of winter beets is bolting. Summer Moon's Asparagus is abundant (and this year she's gonna eat it!). Some Artichokes have reared their head.

Besides the row of spinach, peas, and a couple nicotiana plants, the Greenhouse has been weeded, tilled, composted, and fertilized. Tomorrow we plant peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, and whatever else has been started by Steven and Summer (tomatillos? exotic herbs?)

The weeds are growing like crazy. I the garlic very much needed a second weeding.

April Flowers

Flowers are blooming everywhere, brassicas and fruit trees and strawberries.
The greenhouse has a nice row of spinach ready, the fig trees are covered in tiny figs.
Summer Moon planted a row of carrots and spinach out west of last years corn patch.
Steven is getting the tiller to the welder asap (after attending the medicinal herb conference in Port Townsend). Time to set up the drip lines and get all the tools out to discover what needs fixing.
Aliza has 45 zucchini starts growing in the greenhouse with more on the way!!

The middle field will be cover cropped to improve the soil.
Red Kale was relocated to Steven's property for seed selecting.
Removal of undesired weeds continues: field radish, mustard, thistles, and others...
The birds are so loud!!!

April 12th - the greenhouse was hoed and the spinach hand-weeded.

April 14th - field radish removed from cover crop areas.

Netting & Tilling

Reparations on the berry netting are almost complete.
Next we will throw some netting over the raspberries planted in the field.
I pulled all the mustard out of the field and weeded the garlic beds.
Pea starts were replanted in the greenhouse to replace where the birds nibbled.
The tiller needs some welding and then it's good to go.
The first Artichoke and Asparagus are up, Rhubarb bolts were pruned.

Steven and I will have starts in the greenhouse soon.
